    ($20 material fee included)

 

Mission

  • To enhance and empower students to understand Korean culture and history by providing an enjoyable and student-centered summer camp
  • To encourage students to become excellent global leaders and citizens that share Korean history and culture with others
  • To teach students to have a positive cultural identity by learning about the Korean spirit
  • To raise future world leaders that will contribute to world peace

 

Purpose

  • To provide opportunities for learning and understanding Korean history and culture for secondary school students in English
  • To provide the students with the opportunity to enjoy the summer vacation and develop life-long relationship and necessary social skills through working and learning with fellow
  • To develop and demonstrate strong personal communication and presentation skills
  • To develop the excellent global leadership skills

 

Camp Leaders’ Qualifications

Those wanting to volunteer as a camp leader can submit an application form.

  • 9th grade and above (upcoming school year)
  • Job Description: As a team leader, you will supervise team members, model appropriate behavior, assist camp preparation and group activities, prepare camp class activities to instruct in the classroom, lead a group presentation and make a short presentation about the daily
  • Submit an application form by May 21st, 2016
  • Prior participation in previous YKAA summer camp preferred
  • Participating a leadership training required (7/23/16 Sat, 2:00-5:00pm)
  • Special benefits for camp leaders: volunteer hours, a certificate

Camp Curriculum: Walking with the Korean Heroes

Purpose:

The students will learn about Korean history and culture through historical figures and events in order to establish identity as a Korean American

Goals of the Camp

Upon completing the camp, the student will

  • know about important historical events and cultural relics from each era
  • be able to name the Korean historical eras
  • have gained important learning skills by giving presentations of Korean history
  • be able to apply the knowledge in his/her life
