2026 YKAA Summer Camp
Introduction
- Theme: K-Culture Time Machine: Korean American Heritage Expedition
- Date: August 3rd to 5th, 2026 (Monday ~ Wednesday)
- Time: 11:00 a.m. ~ 5:00 p.m. (Field trip on August 4th : 9:30 a.m. ~5:00 p.m.)

- Target age: 4th-12th grade (for the 2026-2027 school year)
- Leader: Students entering 9th grade or higher may apply.
- Capacity: 50 (first-come, first-served)
- Fee: $270 ($250 for early bird by May 31st) (field trip, workbook, cultural activity materials, and a camp T-shirt are included)
- Camp Application: Online Registration at www.echo-korea.org, Online Payment with Credit Card or PayPal
Mission
- To enhance and empower students to understand Korean culture and history by providing an enjoyable and student-centered summer camp
- To encourage students to become excellent global leaders and citizens that share Korean history and culture with others
- To teach students to have a positive cultural identity by learning about the Korean spirit
- To raise future world leaders that will contribute to world peace
Purpose
- Provide opportunities for students in upper elementary school and beyond to learn and understand Korean history and culture in a bilingual manner.
- Students are encouraged to learn and experience Korean history and culture through interactive activities to develop a sense of pride as overseas Koreans.
- To provide hands-on learning experiences by exploring the history of Korean immigration through visits to key Korean American historical and cultural sites in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- To help students understand K-culture as part of the broader historical and cultural continuum of Korean American identity, rather than as a passing trend.
Classroom Activities
- Bilingual Korean History and Culture Activities
- Student-led learning activities and presentations to improve presentation skills
- Individual class-related assignments and presentations
- Encouraging student-led learning through various experiential activities
- Project presentations and exhibition activities
Camp Leaders’ Qualifications
Those wanting to volunteer as a camp leader can submit an application, by selecting "Apply" for "Camp Leader" field on the online registration form. Camp leader applicants should meet the following requirements:
- 9th grade and above (upcoming school year)
- Job Description: As a team leader, you will supervise team members, model appropriate behavior, assist camp preparation and group activities, prepare camp class activities to instruct in the classroom, and lead a group presentation.
- Register for this camp by June 1st, 2026, with a camp leader "Apply" selected on registration form
- Prior participation in a previous YKAA summer camp preferred
- Participating a leadership training required (SJKPC, 8/1/2026 Sat, 2:00-5:00 pm)
- Assignment: Leader presentation assignment will be sent to leaders separately.
- During camp, leaders are expected to attend daily prep and post-camp meetings
- Day 1: 10:00am - 5:30pm
- Day 2: 09:00am - 5:30pm
- Day 3: 10:30am - 5:30pm
- Special benefits for camp leaders: volunteer hours and a certificate

2026 YKAA Camp 개요
2026 YKAA 캠프에서는 K-컬처 타임머신이라는 주제를 통해 재미한인의 정체성과 문화유산을 시간의 흐름 속에서 탐구하고자 한다. 참가자들은 과거와 현재를 오가며, K-컬처가 뿌리내리기까지의 역사적 여정과 오늘날 재미한인의 삶을 함께 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 미래의 모습을 그려본다.
한인들은 언제, 어떤 이유로 미국에 오게 되었으며, 그 발자취는 샌프란시스코 지역에 어떻게 남아 있을까? Palace Hotel, 공립협회 옛터, Ferry Building, SF 총영사관, 샌프란시스코 한국전 참전 기념비, SF 베이지역 한인회관 등 주요 한인 유적지를 배우고 직접 탐방하며, 각 장소가 지닌 역사적 의미와 그 속에 담긴 한인들의 이야기들을 만나게 된다.
최근 미주 사회 전반에 널리 퍼진 K-컬처를 단순한 문화 현상이 아닌, 재미한인의 역사와 정체성의 연장선으로 이해하고, 한인으로서의 뿌리를 지키면서 동시에 미국 사회에 기여하는 구성원으로 성장해 나갈 미래의 모습을 함께 토론하고 기록해 본다.
At the 2026 YKAA Camp, participants will explore Korean American identity and heritage through the theme “K-Culture Time Machine.” Traveling between past and present, students will examine the history of Korean American communities and reflect on how K-culture connects to their lives today.
Through visits to key historical sites—such as the Palace Hotel, the former Korean National Association site, the Ferry Building, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the SF Bay Area Korean Community Center—students will engage directly with history and uncover the stories behind each location.
As K-culture gains widespread popularity, participants will move beyond trends to understand its deeper connection to Korean American identity. Together, they will reflect on their heritage and envision their roles as active members of American society.
2026 YKAA Camp 목적
- 초등 고학년 이상의 학생들에게 한국 역사문화를 이중언어로 바르게 배우고 이해할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다.
- 학생들의 눈높이에 맞는 활동 중심으로 한국 역사문화를 배우고 체험하여 재외동포로서의 자긍심을 가지도록 한다.
- 재미한인의 역사와 문화유산을 현장 탐방을 통해 직접 체험하고 이해한다.
- K-컬처를 일시적인 유행이 아닌, 재미한인의 역사와 정체성의 흐름 속에서 바라본다.
- 샌프란시스코 지역 한인 유적지를 중심으로 한인 이민사의 발자취를 탐구한다.
- 과거와 현재를 연결하여 한국계 미국인으로서 자신의 정체성을 성찰한다.
- 관찰, 토론, 글쓰기를 통해 비판적 사고력과 자기 표현 능력을 기른다.
- 또래와의 협업 활동을 통해 공동체 의식과 리더십을 함양한다.
- 한인으로서의 뿌리를 지키며 미국 사회에 기여하는 미래상을 함께 모색한다.

부모 혹은 보호자의 동의를 얻어 에코 코리아 캠프에 등록하며, 부모 및 보호자는 에코 코리아 측에서 정한 규칙에 따라 임무를 충실히 이행할 것을 약속합니다. 또한 캠프에서 일어난 어떠한 사고에 대해서도 교사, 에코 코리아, 산호세한인장로교회에 책임을 전가하지 않을 것을 약속합니다. 에코 코리아 캠프에서 찍은 학생들의 사진, 오디오 및 동영상 등의 모든 미디어 자료의 이용 권리를 에코 코리아 측에 위임합니다.
I/We as parent(s) or guardian(s) agree to follow the rules of ECHO-Korea Camp by registering student(s). I/We do hereby release ECHO-Korea leaders, staffs, SJKPC staffs and volunteer assistants from any liability whatsoever arising out of any injury, damage or loss which may be sustained by said person during the course of involvements with ECHO-Korea Camp. I/We give ECHO-Korea permission to use image, voice, and/or appearance as such may be embodied in any pictures, photos, video recordings, audiotapes, digital images, and the like, taken or made on behalf of all the ECHO-Korea Camp activities.

Cancellation and Refund Policy 등록 취소 및 환불 규정
- 7월 1일 이전에 등록을 취소하면 등록비 전액을 환불해 드립니다. 캠프 시작 2주 전까지 등록을 취소하면 등록비의 90%를 환불 받을 수 있습니다. 그러나 캠프 시작 1주 전까지 취소하면 80% 환불되며, 캠프 시작 전날까지 취소하면 50% 환불되며, 캠프 당일부터는 취소해도 환불은 없습니다.
- Offline Payment를 선택하여 등록한 경우에는 등록일로부터 2주 내에 (캠프 시작 1주 전보다 일찍) 등록비를 보내주셔야 등록 절차가 마무리됩니다.
- 환불되는 등록비는 온라인 결제인 경우에는 사용하신 계정으로 환불해드리며, 온라인 결제 계정으로 환불할 수 없는 경우에는 ECHO-Korea 수표로 발행하여 등록된 주소로 우송해 드립니다. 등록 취소일로부터 4주 이내에 처리해 드립니다.
- 납부된 등록비는 다른 사람을 위해 사용될 수 없습니다.
- The full amount of the registration fee is refundable if you cancel before July 1st. 90% of the registration fee is refundable if you cancel by two weeks earlier than the event start date. 80% of the registration fee is refundable if you cancel by one week earlier than the event start date. 50% of the registration fee is refundable if you cancel within one week before the event date. No refund is available for a cancellation from the event date.
- Offline payments must be submitted within 2 weeks of the registration date (1 week before the camp start date) to complete the registration process.
- Online payment will be refunded to the same payment account if possible. Otherwise, a refund check issued by ECHO-Korea will be mailed to you via First Class US Mail. (Please expect 4 weeks from the cancellation date.)
- Your registration is not transferable to another person.
